Symbolism

Blue represents the sea and sky. Yellow represents the bright sun and the former wealth of the island. White represents peace and happiness. The two stars represent Curaçao and Klein Curaçao, with the five points on each star symbolizing the five continents from which its people originate.

History

Designed by Martin den Dulk and adopted on July 2, 1984, for use in the Netherlands Antilles. It became the country flag when Curaçao obtained separate country status within the Kingdom on October 10, 2010.

Construction

A 2:3 ratio. A blue field with a yellow horizontal stripe and two white five-pointed stars on the stripe, the lower star larger than the upper.
