Multiplayer: a correct answer is worth 100. Answer in the first 20% of the clock for up to 20 more, or in under 1.25 seconds for a Speed Demon bonus of 30. Wrong answers and running out of time score nothing.

Yes. Capitals and accents don't matter, common abbreviations work (USA, UK, UAE, Czechia, Burma and others), and a letter or two off still counts.

Typing another real country's name, like Slovenia for Slovakia, counts as a miss.
