Symbolism

Red represents progress and prosperity, and blue represents the eternal blue sky. The 'Soyombo' emblem is a geometric arrangement representing fire, sun, moon, earth, water, and the yin-yang symbol.

History

Adopted on February 12, 1992, following the democratic revolution. The socialist star was removed from the top of the Soyombo emblem in the current version.

Construction

A 1:2 ratio. A vertical tricolor of red, blue, and red with the Soyombo emblem in yellow centered in the hoist-side red band.
