White represents peace and the snow on Mount Titano, while blue represents liberty and the sky. The coat of arms features the three towers of San Marino: Guaita, Cesta, and Montale.
History
The bicolour was adopted on April 6, 1862. The design with the coat of arms serves as the state and national flag.
