Red represents the unity of the nation and the blood shed for independence, white represents purity and the country's cotton wealth, and green represents the agricultural landscape. The crown represents the Tajik people (the name Tajikistan is derived from 'taj', meaning crown), and the seven stars represent the seven regions.
History
Adopted on November 24, 1992, replacing the flag of the Tajik SSR. It is the last of the former Soviet republics to adopt a new flag.
Construction
A 1:2 ratio. A horizontal tricolor of red, white (double width), and green with a gold crown and seven stars centered in the white band.
