How flags.games chooses which flags appear in the quiz, how Explorer pages are sourced, and how to report a mistake.
Which flags are in the quiz
Standard rounds draw from 205 countries and constituent countries. Learn and Explorer cover all 242 catalog entries, including dependent territories.
Dependent territories stay out of Daily and multiplayer. You can add them on Solo Hard from the difficulty picker. Players asked for that split when obscure territory flags kept showing up in the shared daily.
Country, constituent, territory
Sovereign states and constituent countries (Scotland, Greenland, Aruba) sit in the default quiz. Dependent territories (Hong Kong, Bermuda, Puerto Rico) live in the catalog and the Learn Territories pack. Crown dependencies and a few partially recognized states are catalog-only.

Proportions
Quiz and Explorer flags use each country's real aspect ratio: Nepal stays non-rectangular, Switzerland stays square, Qatar stays long. The small chips in pickers are a separate 4:3 set so lists line up. We do not stretch those chips back into full-flag tiles.
Colors, dates, history
Explorer pages cite official records and named references on each flag. Construction notes and palettes come from those sources plus our own attribute table. We are a game with a reference layer, not a government gazette.
Lookalikes
Similar flags on Explorer and in Similarities mode are an authored list (shared colors, motifs, history). Player miss rates, when a window has enough attempts, live on /daily/findings.
How we update
Pool changes regenerate the Daily schedule so past and future days stay aligned. The catalog can be larger than the quiz on purpose.
Corrections
If a flag fact is wrong, write via /contact. We fix the record and date this page. We do not bump dates just to look fresh.
