Red represents the blood shed during the struggle against colonialism, white represents a bright and peaceful future, and black represents the dark days of oppression. The emblem is the Eagle of Saladin.
History
The Arab Liberation flag design was introduced after the 1952 Egyptian Revolution. The current version with the Eagle of Saladin was adopted on October 4, 1984.
