The two blue bands represent the Pacific Ocean and the Caribbean Sea. The white band represents peace and prosperity. The five stars represent the five original members of the United Provinces of Central America and the hope for a future reunion.
History
Adopted on February 16, 1866. In 2022, the shade of blue was changed from navy to turquoise to match the original specifications.
Construction
A 1:2 ratio. A horizontal tricolor of turquoise, white, and turquoise, with five turquoise stars arranged in an 'X' pattern in the center.
