Symbolism

The four stars and four colored stripes represent the four main islands of the Comoros: Moheli (yellow), Mayotte (white), Anjouan (red), and Grande Comore (blue). The crescent and green triangle represent Islam.

History

Adopted on January 7, 2002. Comoros has changed its flag multiple times since 1975, with the current design aiming to represent all the islands and their Islamic heritage.

Construction

A 3:5 ratio. A green triangle at the hoist containing a white crescent and four stars. Four horizontal stripes of yellow, white, red, and blue on the fly.
