Symbolism

The colors are the Pan-Arab colors. White represents deeds, black represents battles, green represents meadows, and red represents the blood of enemies (a reference to a poem by Safie Al-Deen Al-Hali).

History

Adopted on September 7, 1961, following independence from the UK. It replaced various red flags used by the Sheikhdom of Kuwait.
