Symbolism

The blue field represents the Pacific Ocean. The yellow line represents the equator. The white star represents Nauru's location just one degree south of the equator. The 12 points of the star represent the 12 original tribes of Nauru.

History

Adopted on January 31, 1968, the day of independence. Designed by an Australian manufacturer.

Construction

A 1:2 ratio. A blue field with a narrow horizontal yellow stripe and a white 12-pointed star in the lower hoist.
