Flag of New Caledonia
Symbolism
Blue represents both the sky and the surrounding Pacific Ocean. Red represents the blood shed for independence and socialism by those who sought Kanak sovereignty. Green represents the land and the ancestors buried in Kanak soil. Yellow represents the sun and the riches of the country.
History
The Kanak and Socialist National Liberation Front (FLNKS) flag was adopted in 1980 during the push for independence from France. It is widely flown in New Caledonia alongside the French flag while the territory's political status is negotiated.

A 2:3 ratio horizontal tricolor of blue, red, and green with a yellow disc and black fleche fatiere symbol centered.
