History

Adopted on November 25, 1975, the day of independence. It replaced a previous flag that featured five colored stars representing different ethnic groups.

Construction

A 2:3 ratio. Five horizontal bands of green, white (narrow), red (thick), white (narrow), and green, with a yellow five-pointed star centered.
