Symbolism

The red and white are the traditional colors of Bohemia, while the blue triangle represents Moravia and Slovakia (during the Czechoslovak era). Today, blue represents the State.

History

Adopted on March 30, 1920, as the flag of Czechoslovakia. After the dissolution of Czechoslovakia in 1993, the Czech Republic kept the flag, despite a prior agreement that neither state would use the old symbols.

Construction

A 2:3 ratio. Two equal horizontal bands of white and red with a blue isosceles triangle extending from the hoist to the center.
