The red field represents bravery and valor. The yellow sun represents peace and wealth. The 40 rays represent the 40 tribes of Kyrgyzstan. The central emblem (tunduk) represents the top of a traditional Kyrgyz yurt.
History
Adopted on March 3, 1992, shortly after independence from the Soviet Union. The design was updated in 2023 to straighten the sun's rays.

A 3:5 ratio. A red field with a yellow sun and tunduk centered.
