History

Adopted on June 30, 1964. The design merged the flags of Tanganyika (green, black, yellow) and Zanzibar (blue, black, green) following their unification into the United Republic of Tanzania.

Construction

A 2:3 ratio. Divided diagonally by a yellow-edged black band from the lower hoist corner to the upper fly corner. The upper triangle is green, and the lower is blue.
