History
Adopted on December 12, 1963. The design is based on the flag of the Kenya African National Union (KANU), the political party that led the country's independence movement.
Construction
A 2:3 ratio. A horizontal tricolor of black, red, and green separated by narrow white stripes. A traditional Maasai shield and two crossed spears are centered.
