Yellow represents the sun, light, and goodness. Green symbolizes the beauty of nature, freedom, and hope. Red stands for the blood and courage of those who died for Lithuania.
History
Adopted in 1918 during Lithuania's first period of independence. It was banned during the Soviet occupation but re-adopted on March 20, 1989, prior to the re-establishment of independence.

A 3:5 ratio. Three equal horizontal bands of yellow, green, and red.
