Symbolism

The red, blue, and white are the traditional Pan-Slavic colors. The coat of arms features a double-headed white eagle (a Byzantine symbol) and a shield with the Serbian cross.

History

The tricolor has been used since 1835. The current version with the coat of arms was officially adopted on August 16, 2004, and slightly redesigned in 2010.

Construction

A 2:3 ratio. Three equal horizontal bands of red, blue, and white. The coat of arms is shifted to the hoist side.
