History
The tricolor design is based on the French flag and emerged during the 1848 revolution against the Habsburgs. It was officially adopted on May 23, 1957 (after the communist arms were removed during the 1956 uprising).

A 1:2 ratio. Three equal horizontal bands of red, white, and green.
