History

Adopted on April 27, 1960. Designed by Paul Ahyi, it was chosen through a national competition. Its proportions are uniquely based on the golden ratio.

Construction

A 1:1.618 ratio. Five alternating green and yellow horizontal stripes with a red square canton containing a white star.
