Symbolism

Green represents the southern forests, yellow represents the northern savannas, and red represents the unity of the country. The star is the 'star of unity'.

History

Adopted on May 20, 1975. Cameroon was the second country (after Ghana) to adopt the Pan-African colors. The current version features a single star representing a unified state.

Construction

A 2:3 ratio. A vertical tricolor of green, red, and yellow with a yellow five-pointed star centered in the red band.
